The Henley Festive Sunday Shopping event this Sunday (10 December) will bring shoppers together for a day of festive fun. The event which has the theme, Christmas Around the World will feature fun activities for families creating a magical atmosphere throughout the town.
The retailers will open their doors from 11-4pm with many providing refreshments and/or Christmas offers, music, face painting, story telling and craft activities plus there is FREE car parking in Greys Road and Kings Road car parks.
In Market Place there will be a FREE alpine slope with tubes for children to slide down along with a snow machine. Festive wooden cabins will be selling wreaths, decorations and food from around the world including a fondue from Nettlebed Creamery plus the little wooden ride on cars from May Fair will be back for the little ones. In the old wine shop children can enjoy doing Christmas crafts with the River & Rowing Museum and 1st Henley Brownies are offering a wrapping service for your presents, (wrapping paper donated by Waitrose), between 2-4pm for a donation.
From 12noon – 2pm Shiplake Community Choir will be singing Christmas carols around the Christmas tree and other entertainment throughout the day will include buskers and bell ringers.
Santa will be taking up residence in the his Grotto in the Town Hall from 12-3pm. Entrance is free and children will receive a small edible gift thanks to Tesco.
Liz Felix will be running a hat competition at her shop on the Reading Road. Make and take your festive hat to the shop for the chance to win a prize.
Children can also enjoy taking part in the Round the World Treasure Hunt around the town. Pick up an entry from the Christmas Ornament Cabin in Market Place with the chance to win a family ticket to the Pantomime on Ice at the John Nike Ice Rink in Bracknell.
