Community-Driven Initiatives

Nature Squared Campaign: In collaboration with Henley in Bloom and Greener Henley, this initiative encourages locals to contribute to ecological diversity. Plant a square meter of wildflowers to transform green spaces into vibrant havens supporting local wildlife. Join the movement and be a part of Henley’s commitment to environmental conservation. A packet of seeds can be collected from the Town Hall Information Centre – register where you will plant them and join the initiative.

Great Big Green Week: In June each year, Henley focuses on all things green with a huge variety of events from poetry competitions, to river clean ups and book suggestions, private screenings of thoughtful environmental pieces, meetings to discuss green aspects for business owners and much more. Check out our What’s On for more information.

Climate and Nature Emergency Advisory Group: Established by the Town Council in 2019, the group consists of councillors and local residents working together to reduce the carbon footprint of the Council and the town. Initially the Climate Emergency Working Group but in 2024, the council declared a Nature Emergency in response to the urgent need for concerted action to safeguard and rejuvenate our natural environment. The new declaration recognizes the critical importance of preserving and improving biodiversity within our community, and the Council is intensifying its efforts to protect and enhance local ecosystems. The group have installed solar panels, planted trees and promoted government grants for home improvements. They are making plans to take carbon emissions to net zero by 2030. Find out more here
